Understanding Racism Community Education Program, YWCA of Tucson, USA
Racial justice and women's economic advancement are the hallmark programs of the YWCA USA.
The YWCA of Tucson, Arizona runs ' Understanding Racism' workshops to provide a forum for participants to discover conscious and unconscious ways that racism has impacted their lives.
The program is designed to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of differences. Participants explore personal perceptions and issues about race, conflict, and internalised racism.

Rose Button Campaign, YWCA Canada
A national advocacy campaign to end violence against women and girls
The Rose Button Campaign takes its name from the original Rose Button, created almost 20 years ago to commemorate 14 young women who were murdered at l'Ecole Polytechnique in Canada.
The campaign calls for a national action plan on violence against women and promotes strategies to stop violence in Canadian communities. (In Australia we commemorate this event on 5 December each year with our white ribbon campaign).
In 2009, the Canada urged Canadians to send an electronic rose to their local MP between November 25 and December 6. YWCA Canada has also been the national distributor of the Rose Button since 1991.
