No place to call home
Homelessness Green Paper Submission (2008)
Every night in Australia 44,000 women, many of whom have children, have no place to call home.
Many YWCAs have first-hand experience of the homelessness crisis in Australia.
Our submission put forward a multi-pronged model to end the homelessness crisis, including: a change in social attitudes, an integrated continuum of care model, measures to address poverty, an increase in the availability of social and affordable housing, programs aimed at building resilient families, early intervention, flexible supported accommodation, an appropriate level of funding including fair pay for social welfare professionals, and a centrally coordinated model with state/territory bodies.
