The Voice to Parliament is an opportunity for all Australians to walk alongside First Nations peoples towards a future based on self-determination and justice.
At YWCA Australia, we stand for reconciliation and the self-determination of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and we have committed ourselves to this through our Reconciliation Action Plan.
We believe a constitutionally enshrined Voice to Parliament will protect and safeguard First Nations’ advice to Parliament and Government, and that it is a critical step on the journey towards healing and growing together.
We hold profound respect for the diversity of First Nations’ experiences and perspectives, and value differing views concerning the establishment of a Voice to Parliament.
We encourage everyone to be informed on this important issue and engage with information such as the Uluru Statement from the Heart to help to clarify myths and misconceptions.
Let us work together towards this goal by saying “Yes” to an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to Parliament.
