YWCA Australia Wraps Up Life Changing Encore Program

In line with our revised strategy outlined in YeS 2026, YWCA has made the difficult decision to no longer offer the Encore Program and has wrapped up all existing Encore programs.

The Encore program focused offered a free breast cancer exercise and wellness program and has proudly supported many women in their wellness journey for more than 40 years. We acknowledge the positive impact the program has made to the lives of women who have experienced breast cancer.

YWCA acknowledges the amazing work of our team and partners in supporting our clients, participants and the communities in their wellness journey.

During the period 1997 –2024, the Encore team has:

  • Delivered 1,948 programs across regional and metropolitan NSW, Qld, SA, Vic, NT & WA.
  • Provided life-changing physical and mental health support to 17,271 women who have experienced breast cancer or undergone preventative surgery, giving them the physical improvement and confidence needed to engage in other exercise and wellness activities.

For people seeking support, it is best clients talk to their Dr and determine any post-surgery exercise needs. The Breast Cancer Network Australia and MQHealth/Macquarie University ALERT Program may also be in a position to provide support.

YWCA Australia wishes to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we work, live and play and pay our respects to Elders past and present. We recognise First Nations people as the custodians of the lands, seas and skies, with more than 60,000 years of wisdom, connection and relationship in caring for Country.
