Quick Exit

YWCA’s Keeping Women Safe in Their Homes program provides security upgrades for homes to ensure women and their children, who have experienced violence, are able to stay safely in the home of their choice.

Funded by the Northern Territory Government.

We complete property assessments, with local provider Power Concepts, where we assess the needs of the property, as well as listen to your voice and what will make you feel safe. This means women and children can continue to have access to their usual support networks, such as workplaces and schools.

We can also provide tailored support to connect and assist you with other services including counselling, legal and other services.

The program provides upgrades like:

  • Motion sensor lighting
  • Security cameras
  • New and upgraded locks
  • Security screens for windows and doors
  • Solid wood doors
  • Shade cloth on fencing for privacy
  • Hotel latches and peepholes
  • Safe phones
  • Other security needs e.g. gate locks, power box locks
